本教材共分為六個(gè)部分（PART）,每個(gè)部分5個(gè)單元（Unit）,共30個(gè)單元，每個(gè)單元由一篇課文和一篇閱讀材料組成。另外有1個(gè)附錄“專(zhuān)業(yè)英語(yǔ)閱讀指導(dǎo)”和詞匯總表。閱讀材料提供與課文相應(yīng)的背景知識(shí)或是課文的續(xù)篇，以進(jìn)一步拓寬課文內(nèi)容。根據(jù)課文與閱讀材料的內(nèi)容，配有相應(yīng)的練習(xí)題、注釋和詞匯表。課文與閱讀材料共計(jì)60篇，均選自原版英文教科書(shū)、科技報(bào)告、著作、專(zhuān)業(yè)期刊等。體裁較廣，基本覆蓋了過(guò)程裝備與控制工程專(zhuān)業(yè)的相關(guān)內(nèi)容。
每篇課文后邊的詞匯與練習(xí)，主要是幫助讀者在專(zhuān)業(yè)內(nèi)容方面進(jìn)行英語(yǔ)閱讀的訓(xùn)練。附錄的“專(zhuān)業(yè)英語(yǔ)閱讀指導(dǎo)”，主要針對(duì)專(zhuān)業(yè)英語(yǔ)的語(yǔ)言特點(diǎn)和表達(dá)習(xí)慣，用于指導(dǎo)讀者對(duì)專(zhuān)業(yè)英語(yǔ)的閱讀和理解。
本教材可供過(guò)程裝備與控制工程及相關(guān)專(zhuān)業(yè)本科生使用，也可作為同等程度的專(zhuān)業(yè)技術(shù)人員使用。
