大學英語的發展歷程，可追溯到20世紀80年代初期。我國的外語教育家們博采古今中外之長，精心研究，推出了《大學英語教學大綱》和大學英語四、六級考試，編寫了一套套各具特色的精品教材，創造了大學英語教學蓬勃發展、滿園春色的今天！
新舊世紀的交替，不是一個簡單的更迭，而是事物不斷發展、循序漸進的過程。新世紀帶來的是新的起點，新的追求，新的開拓。在教育戰線上，我們看到了宏偉壯觀的“面向21世紀教育振興行動計劃”、“新世紀高等教育改革工程”、“新世紀網絡課程建設工程”等一系列新世紀的大手筆。
“新世紀網絡課程建設工程”是經國務院批準的、由教育部實施的“面向21世紀振興行動計劃”的重點工程。“新世紀網絡課程建設工程”計劃用兩年左右的時間，建設200門左右的基礎性網絡課程。《新視野大學英語》便是其中之一，它像一枝剛剛破土而出的幼苗，沐浴著新世紀的曙光，帶著思索與遐想，來到了大學英語教師和學生的身旁。它是教育部普通高等教育“十五”國家級規劃教材，也是教育部大學外語推薦教材。我們作為《新視野大學英語》的作者，懷著無限的誠摯，愿與廣大高校英語界的同仁們共同探討大學英語再上一個新臺階的思路。

In it, I often find so many toys that there's almost no room even for my small lavatory or toilet kit. And the closet is usually so tightly packed with clothes that I can barely squeeze in my jacket.
2.I'm not complaining, only making a point. I think the tendency to give children too many toys and clothes is quite common in American families. I think in far too many families not only do children come to take their parents' generosity for granted, but also the effects of this can actually be somewhat harmful to children.
